Chili Bowl Rookie

Among the most successful competitors in NHRA drag racing history, Gary Scelzi is set for his initial Chili Bowl campaign.

It's not Schelzi's first time at the Chili Bowl however, as event loyalists will recall Scelzi's role in the 2003 Ford Focus Midget Race of Champions.  But this year will mark Scelzi's first outing in a full-blown midget.

Scelzi has compiled 40 national wins in NHRA competition over the course of his career, collecting four national titles in the process.  Scelzi, who ranked third in 2007 Funny Car points, is one of just two drivers to earn titles in both the Funny Car and Top Fuel ranks.
