A full Midget slate that netted 18 top-fives and 26 top-tens in 41 feature starts found Hess ranked third in Badger, POWRi and National Midget Driver of the Year points.

Along the way, Mike picked off a half dozen wins, including three three POWRi scores over the first half of the year (Lincoln Fairgrounds, Belle Claire and I-55) and then three Badger scores over the latter half of the season (one at Beaver Dam and a pair at Angell Park).
