After making the Short Track Nationals championship feature to wrap up the 2006 season, the 16-year-old racked up three Sprint Car feature wins in 2007 with June triumphs at Phenix City, AL, and Winona, MS, followed up by an August ASCS Coastal Region score at Mendenhall, MS.  Ranked third in Mid-South points, Derek posted a strong fourth place finish in his ASCS National Tour debut at West Plains (MO) Motor Speedway on September 29.  Finished among the top ten in 32 of 40 Sprint Car feature starts with nine top-fives, also earning two top-tens in three midget feature starts.
