Chili Bowl Winner Profile: Cory Kruseman

”The Kruser” is one of the perennial top contenders at the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, ranking as just one of three drivers with multiple Chili Bowl titles to his credit.

After a runner-up showing in 1999, Kruseman scored his first Chili Bowl win in 2000. Kruseman was within just a few laps of a second win in 2003 when mechanical woes forced him pitside in the closing moments. Kruseman bounced right back in 2004 though to notch Chili Bowl win number two.

Hailing from Ventura, Cal, Kruseman has ranked among the nation’s elite wingless Sprint Car pilots in recent years. A 2001 SCRA champion, Kruseman ranks near the top of the series win charts with well over 60 wins.

After a third place ranking in USAC National points in 2003, Kruseman picked up his second USAC Sprintweek championship in 2005 with four wins over the course of the hotly contested week.

Including a triumph in 2005 Chili Bowl preliminary action, Kruseman has already posted 15 feature wins in ’05 (as of 9/8/05) and stands fourth in USAC/CRA points on the West Coast.

Kruseman will be among the betting favorites as he pursues his third Chili Bowl crown in January 2006.
