The 2001 Chili Bowl champion shook off a two-year retirement to compete in the 2009 event and just missed making his eighth career Chili Bowl championship finale by two positions.

Last year's Chili Bowl marked the 2004 USAC Sprint Car champion's first start since the Hulman Classic in October of 2006. A winner of 77 career feature events, including 39 in the Midget ranks, Jay fell just one position short of becoming a multi-time Chili Bowl winner with runner-up finishes in both 2003 and 2006.

This year, Jay joins forces with long-time friend Cory Kruseman in his bid for a second Golden Driller and a potential Chili Bowl Race of Champions triumph.
