Cottle picked off three wins en route to the 2009 Gas City I-69 Speedway track championship, adding a fourth win in September's Vince Osman Memorial at Kokomo Speedway where he ranked second in points.

Cottle has cracked the Chili Bowl championship main event grid over each of the past four years, with his third-place run in 2008 his second time on the podium after a runner-up finish in 2000.
