Bud bagged a third career USAC Silver Crown title in 2009 after posting back-to-back championship efforts in 2006 and 2007, taking the top spot in the Silver Crown portion of the final Copper on the Dirt at Manzanita Speedway to kick off the season in February.

Bud added another pair of wins in Golden State Challenge King of California action (Silver Dollar & Ocean Speedways), where he ranked eighth in points.  Bud posted 26 top-fives and 38 top-tens in 54 overall 2009 feature starts.
