Shain Mathews claimed a fourth place finish in 410-ci Sprint Car points at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA, collecting six top-ten feature finishes along the way, including three top five runs and a triumph on July 11.  Mathews also posted three top-ten showings in Golden State Challenge "King of California" action.

After turning in the top passing performance by racing from 18th to 8th in Thursday night's preliminary feature at the 2003 Chili Bowl, Mathews returns for another shot at Saturday night's finale.  This year, Mathews is aboard one of three Chris Walker entries.
